This Sunday is Mother’s Day. And if you are lucky enough to have a mom who loves you and you love, I hope you planning something nice for her.
In the world of the DCU, mothers are a fairly rare commodity. The Trinity have all lost their mothers (Although Clark gained a wonderful mother on Earth. And Diana only has to wait until a new writer comes on board for her mom to show up again.) Otherwise motherhood seems to be a challenge for female heroes - children, both birth and other, show up and then disappear. Selina and Helena, Donna and Bobby, Dinah and Sin (though she’s back now), Barbara Gordon (herself motherless) and Cass and Misfit (who is back again). (And don’t even go near Cheshire).
Despite this, there are some moms in the DCU that are deserving of some Mother’s Day love and here they shall receive it.
Those of you with kind, loving mothers who support & care about you…hug them, tell them you love them, make sure they know.
I got stuck with Darkseid. I suppose I can just pretend one of these amazing women is my mom, instead…
