Hell and Back by Raymund Lee
Just in time for International Women’s Day,* it’s my take on everybody’s favorite Russian inter-dimensional teleporter, Magik.
*Purely coincidental.
Copic sketch of Magik on Uncanny X-men #1 (2013)!

Magik.
A new cover for Uncanny X-men came out and we got to see a bit more of Magik’s new look, which I tried to emulate here.
After I finished this, I came to this conclusion: When I try to do these redesigns I try to factor in others drawing these and how they would look in a different style. I think Chris Bachalo draws for Chris Bachalo. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, its quite distinctive and noteworthy….and Bachalo. I’ve just never seen his costumes last in their original look very long when he leaves a book, and sometimes that’s too bad, he does design some great stuff.
But never say that Chris Bachalo doesn’t like hot pants. =)
Magik.
I’ve always had a certain love for the Rasputin family. Maybe because NOTHING ever goes their way. EVER.
Pulled from Chris Bachalo’s redesign of her (but you really can’t see anything since she’s like in the corner of the page) and twisted it kept some gold in her costume and made her ‘spikes’ black because I want to think that she can grow them at whim (like a porcupine…and EVIL Devil Porcupine) She looks a little top heavy with the spikes…maybe should have done something…uh…lower…
I dunno, its okay.
