I just had a customer, who does not buy Marvel or Superheroes come in and say:
“I don’t care about Hawkeye, but I heard Matt Fraction is donating his part to Sandy relief. I’d like to buy 5 copies and have you just give them away at the counter. I really appreciate that he is doing that.”

On Wednesday October 17, 2012, window washers from the American National Skyline company turned their already daring job into something awesome. They dressed up as superheroes to surprise children and their families at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
In the lower photo you see Jordan Emerson, Steve Oszaniec, and Danny Oszaniec suiting up as Marvel Comics superheroes Spider-Man and Captain America. Imagine looking out the window to see Spider-Man waving at you…while holding a squeegee. We’d be pretty thrilled, so we can only imagine how delighted those kids must have been.

A Colorado teen turned into a real-life superhero Friday night after a gunman opened fire in a packed movie theater.
Jarell Brooks, 19, was prepared to flee the Aurora theater when a shooter started attacking cinemagoers excited to see the midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises,” ABC News reports. But when the selfless do-gooder saw Patricia Legarreta struggling to save her babies, he immediately stopped in his tracks.
“She yelled, ‘My kids!,’” Brooks told the news outlet of the horrifying moment he realized Legarreta and her two young daughters were in danger. “I made sure they got in the aisle and pushed behind her to make sure she got out of there.”
Brooks braved against the heavily-armed shooter, suspected to be James Holmes — a 24-year-old University of Colorado-Denver PhD student, the Associated Press reports. A total of 12 people were killed, and nearly 60 were injured, in what is being called the worst mass U.S. shooting to date since the attack at Fort Hood, Texas in November 2009.
Though Brooks eventually brought the young family to safety, they didn’t all escape harm. Both the 19-year-old and Legarreta were shot and are recovering at home, a fate that is nothing short of a miracle for the mother of two.
“Everybody at that moment was going through it,” Legarreta told the ABC News, “and to know that someone had that mindset, it makes me feel happy to know that in times of trial, there are good people out there.”

Zatanna (2010) Since the awesome people at Gamma Squad featured my Zatanna (as photographed bt Bethany Fong at NYCC 2011) on this week’s Funny, Sexy and Awesome Cosplay feature, I figured I should post her!
The Perez version was the first Zee I knew, so this is her classic costume in my eyes…the fishnets and tails always look weird to me! I debuted her at HeroesCon 2010 here in Charlotte, and brought her to DragonCon later that year (at **EEEE** George Perez’s request no less!). She’s had a couple of tweaks but for the most part I nailed it out of the gate. The cape is fabulous fun, and I mastered the art of sewing on to dance tights with this costume. I put her on and I just feel…pretty. :) I love wearing this!
Honestly, this may be my favorite Zee cosplay. I’m not kidding.
