The Happy Sorceress

ugh… creative trainingmy behind! -_-

adcomarttheft:

Who or what is Adcom?

Adcom is a creative training institute that uses artwork tracing as a method of learning. This is not something new or unheard of.

But Adcom has gone beyond the pale by using traced works in their advertising.

What exactly has happened?

Update on the Update

The ‘artist’ who stole Dave Hoover’s art (& that of a few others) appears to have deleted their dA page (or, possibly, had it done for them).

It’s a small victory (though I wouldn’t be surprised to see them back under another name), but I thank you all for commenting & reporting.

Update

The offending ‘artist’ has deleted (or been forced to, I honestly don’t know) the Zatanna sketch from their gallery.

The ‘magic’ of computers

I’m a big supporter of artists. I love what they do & believe their works should be seen & appreciated.

You can’t do that without proper credit.

And while I’m hardly an expert, I do know certain artists well enough to spot their work by sight.

Last night, I saw this piece show up as ‘new’ on deviantArt:

Which seemed odd, as I recognized it as a sketch done by the late Dave Hoover:

I left a comment on the ‘new’ artist’s page, with a link to the original.

That comment has been hidden.

I hate art theft. I hate any kind of theft. Words, images, whatever.

And this is so blatant. The only change is the artist’s signature.

And apparently, the only one who can report art theft to dA is the artist himself…

One of these things is JUST like the other

Early this morning, LadiesMakingComics posted this.

I will always support creators, women in particular, so naturally I reblogged the article.

Then I took the time to really look at the various art works & had a moment of ‘…Hey. HEY. Wait a minute!’

Because when I saw this piece by Juli Mayers:

it was pretty clear it was a rip-off this work I’d commissioned from Craig Cermak:

I pointed this out to Craig, because I’m not a fan of art theft you know.

And he then found this.

So, yeah. I don’t think she’s getting my vote in that little contest.
