The Happy Sorceress
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MING DOYLE!!!

Today is the birthday of the incredibly talented and oh-so lovely Ming Doyle!!

I am lucky to call her friend and to have gotten to know her over the past few years.

Funny, adorable and did I mention talented? She is. Let me show you!

Much to my delight, Ming’s been able to work in a couple of commissions for me over the years - a Zee and a Traci 13. I actually got goosebumps when I finally saw them. They’re that amazing!

You can (and should!) follow her here on Tumblr, on dA and Twitter.

Happiest of days to you, my friend!!! I hope you are surrounded by those who love you, staggeringly tall piles of gifts and cake. THERE SHOULD ALWAYS BE CAKE.

The DC Women - my commission from Bevis Musson
Ok. So, a couple of years ago, Turhan’s Bey Company and I did a ‘fan cast’ for a classic movie star Justice League film serial.
Afterwards, I thought it would be fun to give a similar treatment, with a twist, to the film ‘The Women’.
And did.
The original actress and role, followed by the comics character we felt would best represent them.
Norma Shearer   …   Mrs. Stephen Haines (Mary) - Dinah Laurel Lance Joan Crawford   …    Crystal Allen -  Selina Kyle Rosalind Russell …   Mrs. Howard Fowler (Sylvia) -    Poison Ivy Mary Boland    …      The Countess De Lave -   Jeannette Paulette Goddard  …     Miriam Aarons  - Zatanna Phyllis Povah   …      Mrs. Phelps Potter (Edith)   -   Harley Quinn Joan Fontaine   …     Mrs. John Day (Peggy) -  Stephanie Brown Virginia Weidler  ..     Little Mary   -  Sin Lucile Watson   …     Mrs. Morehead  - Dinah Lance Marjorie Main   …      Lucy  -  Ma Hunkel
This was something I really wanted to see.  And finally, I asked Bevis to take a crack at it.
I knew he would create something amazing - I adore his art, he understands fashion and always adds those fabulous little details that really make the piece.
Also, he’s a wonderful guy and a friend, so there’s no downside!
And HERE IT IS!
A comics version of the 1939 film, The Women*!
It is everything I could have hoped for. And more.
*there was never a remake. nope. didn’t happen.

In case you missed it this morning.
